Each tug exerts a constant force of 1.30x10^6N , one at an angle 10.0? west of north, and the other at an angle 10.0? east of north, as they pull the tanker a distance 0.850km toward the north. What is the total work done by the two tugboats on the supertanker?

Assuming unit of forces in N and distance in m

Components of forces towards North
= 1.3* 10^6 * cos 10 + 1.3* 10^6 * cos 10
= 2 * 1.3* 10^6 * cos 10 N

total work they did on the supertanker
= 2 * 1.3* 10^6 * cos 10 * 0.85
= 2.1764 * 10^6 J ---answer
