First - recall that

Force = Mass * Acceleration

Magnitude of Force = sqrt( (Force in Y Direction)^2 + (Force in X Direction)^2 )

Then, find Net Force (Mag. of Force)

F_net = sqrt( 6^2 + 8^2 ) = 10 N

Then, find the Acceleration

F = M*a -> a = F/M

a = 10N / 5.0 kg

a = 2 N / kg = 2 m/s^2
