A ship fires its canon. The initial speed of the shell is 20 m/s. The angle of the canon is 30 degrees.
a. Determine the horizontal and vertical components. Show your equations.
b. Caclulate the range, height (distance) and time in the air. You must show your work.

a)Horizontal component ,Vx=Ucos(30) =20 cos(30) =18.66 m/sec (ans)

vertical component ,Vy =Usin (30) =10 m/sec

b)Now,time of flight using equation of motion =Vy=Uy -gt

t=2Vy/g =2*10/9.8 =2.04 sec (ans)

Now,range =Vx*t=18.66*2.04 =38.06 m (ans)

Maxm height,h=Vy^2=Uy^2 - 2gh

H=Uy^2/2g =10*10/19.6 =5.102m (ans)
