the three resistors are connected in series across the battery.

Req = R1 +R2+R3

= 38.1 + 42 + 56.8

= 136.9 ohms

V acroos R1 = I *R1

= V/(Req) * R1

= 10.241 V

2) when connected in parallel,

1/Req = 1/R1 +1/R2 + 1/ R3

Req = 14.77 ohms

current through R1 = I1 = V/R1

= 0.965 A
