A football is kicked from ground level with an initial velocity of 24.2 m/s at angle of 34.0° above the horizontal. How long is the football in the air before it hits the ground? Ignore air resistance.

Vertical component of velocity= 24.2 sin (34)

= 13.53 m/s

using equation of motion in Vertical direction

Vf= Vi+a*t

0=13.53 - 9.8*t

t=1.38 s

This is time required for the football to reach maximum height.

Same amount of time it will take to come down.

So, total time= 2*1.38= 2.76 s

Ans: 2.76 s
