Consider the system depicted in Figure. A block of mass m=1.57 kg is resting on a wedge of mass M=2.56 kg and angle Theta =20.3°. The wedge is in turn resting on an incline of angle Theta as shown so that the surface on which the block rests is level. Assume that there is no friction between the block and wedge and likewise no friction between the wedge and incline. What is the magnitude of the acceleration (in m/s2) of the wedge down the incline?

If there is no friction

then magnitude of acceleration down the incline=g*sin(a) =3.399 m/sec^2 (ans)
