Calculated the measurement uncertainty for Kinetic Energy when :

mass = 1.3[kg] +/- 0.4[kg]

velocity= 5.2 [m/s] +/- 0.2 [m/s]

KE= 18 [J] +/- ___________________[kg(m/s2 )m]

Measurement uncertainty [measurement x sum of relative uncertainties]

KE = 0.5*m*v^2

d(KE)/KE = dm/m + 2(dv/v)

KE = 0.5*1.3*(5.2)^2 = 17.576 J

dm = 0.4

m = 1.3

dv = 0.2

v = 5.2

d(KE) = ?

d(KE)/KE = dm/m + 2(dv/v)

d(KE)/17.576 = [0.4/1.3 + 2(0.2/5.2)]

So d(KE) = 6.76 J

KE = 17.576 +/- 6.76 J
