A 1 megabit computer memory chip contains many 6.3 10-14 F capacitors. Each capacitor has a plate area of 2.1 10-11 m2. Determine the plate separation of such a capacitor. (Assume a parallel-plate configuration). The diameter of an atom is on the order of 10-10 m = 1 . Express the plate separation in angstroms.

we know C = epsilon*A/d
seperation d =epsilon*A/C = [8.854x10^-12*2.1x10^-11]/(6.3x10^-14)

d = 2.95x10^-9 m = 2.95 nm=29.5 A
